Families can now bring their pets no matter the bread along with them when they travel as JFK Airport opens new ARK terminal

Shipments of horses, parakeets, goldfish and other creatures through the area have risen by 28% during the past three years, to 2,800 in 2014

Flying high: The Ark will replace a facility called the VetPort, a 10,000-square-foot kennel that has been around since the 1950s. The Port Authority anticipates collecting about $5 million in annual rent over the 27-year lease Equine establishment: In addition to giving temporary shelter to furry and feathered friends in transit, the Ark is designed to house dozens of horses, as well as up to 180 cattle that are capable of producing 5,000 pounds of poop every day

Jet-setting stallions and high-flying hounds at New York's Kennedy International Airport can look forward to their own new luxury terminal.
The $48 million private facility is called The ARK at JFK. It'll handle more than 70,000 animals flying in and out of the airport every year, from cats and dogs to horses, cows, and even sloths and aardvarks.
The large animals will have their own climate-controlled stalls, and doggies will occupy hotel suites featuring flat-screen TVs, bone-shaped splashing pools and spa services.

Pet owners will be able to monitor their pooches through webcams.
It will include more than 70 climate-controlled horse stalls equipped with soft floors so racehorses won't hurt their hooves.
Dogs will be allowed to frolic at a 20,000-square-foot 'resort' run by the pet-boarding chain Paradise 4 Paws.
It will have bone-shaped splashing pools, massage therapy and other spa services like 'pawdicures,' the company says on its website.
Travelers can drop off their pets at 'top-dog suites' before getting on a plane. The suites will go for around $100 a night and include a human-size bed and flat-screen TV.

Four legs good: The facility at JFK Airport will cater for domestic animals, as well as farm animals such as horses and cows
