This Spaghetti Cooking Hack Will Blow Your Mind

When it comes to kitchen skills, it doesn’t get more basic than cooking pasta. Boil a big pot of water, toss in the noodles, and maybe add a pinch of salt. How could you mess that up?

Welp. It turns out we’ve all been doing it wrong.

In this video, Buzzfeed introduces us a much simpler and faster method for cooking Spaghetti,

Rather than reaching for the big pot and filling it with the typical excessive amount of water that will eventually be poured down the drain, stick with a shallower vessel.

Opt for a frying pan instead. Lay your noodles of choice in the pan, cover with cold water, and turn your burner to medium-high. Stir occasionally, and in 15 minutes you’ll have perfectly cooked pasta. No straining, pouring, or transferring required.

This method is not only mind-blowingly quick and easy, but also cuts down significantly on water waste. That’s especially important to note if you live in California or anywhere struggling with drought.

And, as an added bonus, this technique apparently saves a decent amount of energy, as well.

All-in-all, I think we can agree that it’s pretty brilliant. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have some sauce to make.
