FUEL SCARCITY

Tankers in Kirikiri

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has threatened to delist the names of fraudulent petroleum marketers selling petrol above the regulated pump price of N87 per litre from further participation in the Petroleum Support Fund (PSF).
The warning was handed down in Lagos yesterday by the Acting Director of DPR, Mr. Danteni Baba Ladan, during a meeting with officials of Depot Products and Petroleum Marketers Association (DAPPMA), Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).
Ladan disclosed that despite several warnings issued to marketers to desist from selling above ex-depot price, which in turn translates to higher pump prices, some marketers have consistently flouted government’s directive.
He stated that this trend remained unacceptable given that marketers with whom DPR has constantly interacted have benefitted from PSF, which has enabled marketers to operate their businesses at a level that should guarantee constant and uninterrupted supply of products.
