According to her GoFundMe, Channan Simone Petrides is a terminally ill 22-year-old who is battling cystic fibrosis.
"It is a slow, painful, suffocating condition," she explained. Petrides decided to take herself off the heart and lung transplant list so she could live out her remaining year fulfilling her bucket list.
Petrides was diagnosed with the debilitating condition last November after being rushed to the hospital with a chest infection. She told The Mirror that since then, her breathing has felt "like having a plastic bag over your head and breathing through a straw."
"I know I've taken a massive risk but I want to enjoy the time I have left, rather than stick waiting to get a call that may never come," she said. She also explained that her family struggled with her choice at first but have now come to accept it.
