Rapper DMX Jailed Over Unpaid Child Support Sentenced to 6 months in Jail

Rapper DMX has been sentenced to six months in prison for failing to pay child support.

The 44-year-old was taken to the Erie County Holding Center in Buffalo, upstate New York, on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the New York City Sheriff's Office told WPIX-TV that DMX was arrested before he was due to perform at Radio City Music Hall on 26 June for several "issues outstanding".

Those issues included $400,000 (£255,600) worth of unpaid child support, a warrant issued by the city of White Plains for bail jumping and a robbery complaint from Newark, New Jersey.

No charges have been filed in the Newark case.

DMX has previously served time in jail for drug offences and in July 2013 he filed for bankruptcy after falling into debt.

He has sold over 30 million records worldwide, with his 2003 Grand Champ album the most successful in the UK.
