Police arrest 59 cultists in Warri


No fewer than 59 cultists were on Wednesday night arrested during a raid on strategic locations in Warri by a crack team of policemen from ‘B’ Division Warri.
Besides, another 34, who were earlier apprehended by the police and would soon appear in court.
Sources told Daily Sun that 47 of them had been screened and freed, while 12 with questionable characters were presently assisting the police in their Investigation.
Checks revealed that the cultists from various states and parts of Delta State were rounded-up when the crack team swooped on them.
Scores of them confessed to being cultists, while some said they were in Warri for their yearly party.
However, 34 cultists arrested by the police would soon appear in court for various offences.
A source said the erring cultists had confessed to committing various crimes ranging from killing and maiming innocent persons and members of other cult groups.
Meanwhile, crime rate in Warri metropolis, which includes Estate, Okumagba Avenue, Okere axis and Airport Road as well as Ajamimogha has reduced drastically. This followed intense patrol of the area, which had increased monitoring and dealing severely with criminals.
